Careers
MODELING ENGINEER
Position Overview:
This is a full-time, senior technical position to develop and validate multi-physics models for novel solar and electrochemical products. The successful candidate will develop numerical and multi-physics models for heterogeneous systems involving fluid transport, electrochemical processes, and /or photonic processes. High quality experiments in these systems will then be performed or directed by the candidate to validate said models. The candidate will identify driving phenomena that are key to product performance and life-cycle cost and develop relevant models and experiments under schedule constraints. The candidate will clearly and frequently communicate results and direct junior staff members in this role.
Company:
Sun Catalytix is a venture-backed renewable energy startup working to commercialize cutting-edge science and technology initially discovered at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The company focuses on the development of transformational renewable energy capture and storage technologies that will enable renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, to power our society anywhere, anytime, and at low cost. We are a dynamic young company located in Cambridge, MA close to public transportation.
Qualifications:
We are seeking self-starting individuals with strong technical aptitude and serious interest in renewable energy technologies. The successful candidate will bring significant, practical experience in numerical and multi-physics modeling to the role. Experience in the use of MATLAB / Simulink, COMSOL, or Fluent software packages (or analogous) is required. Demonstrated experience and proficiency for rigorous experimental design and hands-on execution is required for model validation. Experience in design-of-experiments and software development for rapid data reduction is desired. Relevant experience in energy conversion devices (e.g. PV solar, batteries, fuel cells, electrolyzers) is highly desirable. A familiarity with experimental electrochemical methods is also highly desirable. Experience in applying these skills to product evolution from concept through demonstration and production is desirable. Individuals must be flexible, able to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, and able to work as a leader and/or a member of teams and independently. Experience in effectively directing junior team members is expected. An advanced degree in the fields of mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering with 5+ years of relevant industrial experience is required.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation package includes salary commensurate with experience, company equity, and benefits including medical and dental insurance and 401(K).
How to Apply:
Applicants should submit a resume and cover letter to info@suncatalytix.com including "Modeling Engineer" in the subject line. We look forward to hearing from you. Sun Catalytix is an equal opportunity employer.
