Position Overview:

This is a full-time, operations leadership position to manage the Company’s rapidly evolving need for effective state-of-the-art facilities to serve its development program requirements. The successful candidate will have considerable project management skills, and demonstrated experience with facilities build-out and equipment procurement and maintenance, including familiarity with building codes and standards. The Facilities Manager will provide oversight throughout all phases of facility design, construction, and operational use. During facility development, the position involves gathering requirements from internal stakeholders and management, working with contractors to estimate program budgets and schedules, and managing the build program on a day-to-day basis. During normal operations, responsibilities include definition and implementation of processes for building and equipment maintenance, tool calibration, and laboratory hygiene. In consultation with management, the Facilities Manager will initiate and manage contracts and relationships with critical suppliers and service providers to ensure cost effectiveness and operational continuity. This position will also support the Company’s life safety programs in an administrative capacity by maintaining records and permits, as well as interfacing with domain experts, such as industrial hygienists, as required.


Lockheed Martin Advanced Energy Storage is focusing on the development of transformational renewable energy storage technologies that will enable renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, to power our society anywhere, anytime, and at low cost. We are a small, development arm of a mature organization located in Cambridge, MA close to the Alewife T station.


We are seeking a self-starting individual with strong project management capability, technical aptitude, people skills, and serious commitment to the development and deployment of renewable energy technologies. The candidate will bring significant industrial project management experience to the role. Managing projects to schedule with tight deadlines, demanding requirements, and limited budgets is expected. The ideal candidate will have extremely good judgment for how to trade schedule, cost and quality in managing projects and effectively communicate status and issues throughout the team. Ideally, the candidate will have served in growing companies and supported both laboratory R&D and manufacturing facilities expansion activities. Significant experience running project teams that heavily leverage external resources from vendors is expected. A B.S. degree in a relevant technical field and 10+ years of experience is required.
